Place Chocolate Under Wraps All you have to create this sweet necklace is gumballs, ribbon and a couple of tools. Use a skewer to puncture each gumball, 1 side at a time. Top with a ring cut from our printable black-and-white striped paper and replace the lid. Use decals or stickers to produce the ghost or pumpkin face. Tie on one of our printable tags with twine to complete the appearance.



Mason Jar Favors Mini candy bones provide these marshmallow treats a crispy feel kids love. To create them skewer a regular-sized marshmallow on a 6-inch lollipop stick. A Bit of Bohemian In an artistic couple's garden, Jamie Durie created three pergolas for dining and lounging spaces. Each construction has a macrame roof made from hand-dyed ropes, where baskets of leaves and blossoms hang.



Vegetable Boardwalk For a couple who wanted a garage remodel so that they can develop their cooking-school-for-kids business, Jamie Durie created a "vegetable boardwalk" within their larger makeover. The vertical gardens greatly extend the amount of produce the couple can develop, and edibles are close the kitchen for easy care and harvest.



Sunbathing in the City The town seems like a world away in this urban rooftop garden, made by Adam Miller. Artificial turf surrounds the pergolas.

Building Green One of those eco-friendly components of HGTV Green Home 2012 is your barbecue courtyard. Designed of architect Steve Kemp's vision for a truly green layout, the outside space replaces the traditional backyard, which could have required major regrading of the site and the building of retaining walls. "Now the 'yard' is available to almost every room in the house, rather than being open to one or two chambers," he says.



Enormous Fun Within this wonderful makeover by landscape designer Ahmed Hassan, a custom made deck includes the family's open living room. Under the cedar pergola, custom daybeds encourage serious lounging (and napping).



Interesting on Every Level The deck provides a bird's-eye view of the multiple play areas and relaxing options within this gorgeous hardscape, perfect for entertaining and relaxing. Rock columns on the deck perimeter help unify the appearance.

After: Home Office Within a deadline, the distance was totally altered from a kids' bedroom and playroom to a sleek, sophisticated office. In the ceiling to the floor, everything about the space was changed to create the new look.



Before: Bedroom Prior to the remodel, the 12x14 space was used as a bedroom for two young boys. After moving across the hallway into a newly remodeled loft, the boys' old area could have a brand new life as a glamorous home office.



Reflective Wood Ceiling All in all, the aesthetic of the house office is chic and darkened. To deliver a dark, reflective quality to the ceiling that it was coated with ebony-stained tongue-and-groove hardwood flooring. The flooring's glossy finish bounces light round the space and highlights that the metallic accents.



Polished Brass Fixture To add appropriate illumination and play up the office's metallic beams, many brass fixtures were utilized, such as this polished midcentury-modern flush-mount installed on the ceiling.



Let the Light In Natural light plays a massive role in the success of metallic spaces. Although the overall vibe of the charcoal and gold office is dim, the abundance of natural light streaming through the window keeps it brightly lit for having work done.



Ceiling Upkeep Something to keep in mind while using high-sheen black wood on a ceiling is its ability to show flaws. As the light streams in through the windows and pops off the ceiling, the black end will demonstrate any dust or cobwebs the space gathers. Comparable to caring for wood flooring, it is important to regularly care for a wood ceiling by simply wiping it with wood cleaner per week.



Layer Golds To add depth to the metallic workplace, a layering of different golds was utilized. The desk's frame is considered a brownish gold while the chairs along with art-easel floor lamp will be best categorized as white gold. Yellow gold was worked into the layout with the ceiling flush-mount fixture in addition to the gilded chalkboard frame.



All About Balance Gold would be the wealthiest of metallic tones. To be able to utilize it efficiently, down it using a neutral to keep gold from seeming gaudy or stuffy. Here, the gold accents are paired with charcoal, which accounts gold's bright richness.



Quilted Gold Upholstery Gold could be considered over the top or overly formal if it comes to upholstery. Automotive Vinyl Upholstery Marine and automotive vinyl manufacturers are excellent resources for durable metallic upholstery cloth. To update a set of side seats, automotive vinyl using a textural surface and metallic sheen was cut to dimension, then topped with a band of satin-stitched Greek key trim prior to being permanently attached to the framework.



Organized Closet From a pair of readymade adjustable wooden shelves to door-mounted hooks and message boards, the whole closet is packed with arranged storage options.



Maintaining the Appearance Consistent In addition to the home office, both charcoal and gold were also used to decorate the interior of the room's side-by-side closets. Once opened, the cupboard feels like an expansion of the room.



Balance Bling With Texture Very similar to colour, texture may also be employed to balance wealthy metallic tones. To darken the room's abundance of gold surfaces, a thick charcoal shag rug has been placed almost wall to wall. Though the floor-to-ceiling gold accents are bright and extra rich, the lavish, dark area rug keeps the look grounded.



Gilded Chalkboard Nothing gives a room a timeless, traditional feel as an elaborate gold frame. This framed chalkboard provides a convenient space to write notes down.



Brighten Up With Mirrors Mirrors are often used in dark spaces to reflect light. In this home office, the wall with the window is kept bright and airy thanks to a grouping of three dimensional convex mirrors dangled over a black console desk. When seated at the desk, the reflections produce the illusion of an additional window.



Trick the Eye Instead of using flat mirrors, the workplace is adorned with convex mirrors, which lead to a fisheye effect. This visual suggestion is a superb way to make a small space seem larger.



Metallic Accessories Tiered shelves, flanking the windows, are full of accessories that feature different textures, finishes, materials and patterns.



Polished Brass Doorknobs Often considered "contractor-grade", glistening brass doorknobs and hinges may take on luxury appeal when paired with darker colours like black, navy blue and charcoal.



Maintain Trim Colors Consistent To upgrade the set of fundamental, hollow-core closet doors, each has been painted using the same shade of semigloss charcoal paint used on the area's trim.



Bringing the Outside In Brass door knockers were inserted to the cupboard doors to provide them a dressed-up appearance.



Floor Lamp Art Easel A satin brass floor lamp serves double duty as an art easel. After dark, the easel can be used as a night-light, keeping the framed piece prominently on display.
