The soapstone washstand and wall-mount faucet are visual references to outside fountains in an Indian courtyard, along with the marble shower is a nod to the elaborate marbles of Indian architecture. Middle-Eastern Chic: Moorish Functions Modern This magnificent example of contemporary Arabian style can be located in Beirut, Lebanon's Amethyst Lounge. The firm HBA Designs created this outdoor dining room, which was motivated by the 1001 Arabian Nights stories. Light colours (which do not absorb heat as readily) function as the main palette for the sofa, but amethyst purple adds pops of color and ambiance. The firm sourced the lanterns and a number of the textiles from local artisans, along with also the geometric details -- in the wicker "palaces" into the skylight panes -- also typify this regional look.
About Moorish Design The Moors did not consist of human likenesses within their design, instead relying upon brightly colored, brightly colored tile and stonework due to their art. Arches in architecture and furnishings are also typical of the style. Jaded and Happy About It: Asian Launched Designer Olga Adler's inspiration with this dining and kitchen area was natural: bamboo. From the custom-made kitchen backsplash which features green and blue marble cut into sliver-thin "bamboo stalks" to the bamboo-shaped light fixture, this Asian-inspired design looks as sharp as its own flowering plant inspiration. Adler's favorite part: the jade-colored dogs "guarding" the cooktop. Geometric patterns, like the dining room mirror blue vases add a more conventional touch to this modern Asian design.
